We hosted Y7 Summit along with G7 Ise-Shima Summit. This was the first Y7 Summit to be hosted in Japan and also the first in the world to be hosted alongside the G7 Summit.

When Russia hosted G8 Summit in 2014, Y8 Summit was canceled due to the crisis in Crimea. When Germany hosted G7 Summit in 2015, Y7 Summit was also canceled since the significance of the event was questioned. There was a sense of crisis that G7/G8 would never come with a summit that allows youth engagement.

Along with G7 Summit in 2019 hosted by Japan, we planned the “Y7 Summit.” We planned to invite five young professionals well-versed in G7 agendas from each of the G7 countries and the European Union to Japan, discuss international issues with over 400 general participants from Japan, and submit recommendations to be utilized in decision-making at G7. The Japanese government officials well understood this concept, and we successfully finished the summit with support from various entities and individuals.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who supported our organization in hosting the summit.
